Semi-annual Report on 2014 Campaign.

Hello everyone!
We would like to give you a brief semi-annual update on where we are at with the 300 @ 50 Campaign.
The 300 @ 50 Campaign was initiated to raise funds for 2014 to go towards program development to move the mission of LIFEiLEAD forward. We are looking for 300 people to donate a one time gift of $50 each to reach our goal of $15,000 for 2014.
To date we have received $5,700. Our deepest appreciation and thanks to those who have generously donated to this campaign, not only with their finances, but also with their other valuable resources through time, energy, talent, prayer and support. Our goal was to have $7,500 by the end of June 2014. As of now we are $1,800 short of goal; only 36 more people needed to give a one time gift of $50 (or more) to help us reach that by the end of this month.

LIFEiLEAD is a cause bigger than any one person. It is about reaching out to those who are trying to find their way on the road of recovery and restoration. To come alongside them and journey with them through the struggles and victories as they claim a life of freedom through Jesus. Please help us in any way you can. With your help and support our reach can stretch farther and deeper in the lives of those who need the hope and help that they can live beyond “just being clean.” They can have a life of purpose and meaning as they grow into leaders of integrity and excellence in all areas of their lives. Join us as we continue to equip, develop and empower those seeking a transformative addiction recovery aftercare experience.

MAY’S UPDATE: A NEW BEGINNING

Hello!
We hope this update finds each of you well and enjoying the warm weather that has finally arrived. We would like to share with you some of the things that happened during the month of May.

Milestone:

What can I say about graduating and becoming Dr. George N Kalaras? I know that it was not in my strength alone that I have accomplished this. Over these past 11 years it could have been easy to focus in on all the negative thoughts that could have held me back from reaching this milestone, but instead I chose to focus in on God’s Truth of who I am. The truth that through Christ I can do all things and that He is continually perfecting in me the good work He started. I am very thankful for everyone that has been part of this journey with me, encouraging me and challenging me to be better. I also deeply appreciate the support and love from my wife Angela, who has been there since the start of my journey in pursuing a formal education. It has been through these valuable relationships and conversations with friends and family all these years that have kept me going, pushing to achieve this goal which is a crucial stepping stone to wherever God will be taking me next.

At the end of the day, we give God all the credit and the glory for instilling in our hearts the patience and wisdom to take it day by day, choice by choice.  My heart’s desire has always been to tell others of how God saved my life in the hope that they see the peace, joy and freedom available through Jesus, and that is exactly the privilege I am accomplishing today!

Florida update:

We are continuing the 60 Day Development and Discipleship (60 Day D&D) phase of our training with the Group Leaders under House of Hope. Angela and I Skype in to lead the support group for the first four weeks allowing us to model for them how to lead an LSG and to let them become comfortable with the format. Then the following four weeks we continue to Skype in while the group leaders then take turns preparing and leading the LSG. This will give them time to work out any glitches and allow the opportunity to ask questions and give feedback to help them lead in excellence and integrity. We will keep you posted on the projected launch date for this LSG. We are very excited about the team God has put together for this Florida LSG. It is an honor to come alongside them and serve together to impact their community for the Kingdom of God.

I would like to provide a statistic that gives an idea of how HoH impacts its community. In 2013 they served 135,414 INDIVIDUALS! Within this population of people being served there is a large percentage who are drowning in drug and alcohol addiction. The potential impact that LiL could have in this area is endless. This is one of the main reasons why LiL leadership and the Director of HoH have decided to take our time and really invest in creating a solid team so we can take the remainder of the year and make sure we have a good foundation at all levels from which we can hopefully expand and reach more people. We will continue to update you on the progress of our FL LSG in the coming months.

Paid Internship:

I am honored to announce that I will be working as intern for The North American Mission Board. I will be working hand in hand with a gentleman who plants churches in the north east. As he is planting churches we plan to implement our LIFEiLEAD Support Groups as part of each church’s DNA. This is an exciting partnership and one that we pray the Lord uses greatly. More to come on this in the following months.

Transformation Life Center @ Riverside Community Church

I wanted to take a few moments to share with you our experience with the seven men who came down from TLC to our church, Riverside Community Church in Horsham PA, to help with some renovations. It has been my experience over the years as a resident, as staff and now as I serve on the Board for TLC, that the men who go to TLC are extremely gifted. Amazingly after years of abusing drugs and alcohol, these men are brilliant and have much to offer! Not only with physical labor, but with their minds and hearts as well. Two weekends ago Angela and I were given the privilege to interact with these brothers who poured out their hearts and their desires to serve the Lord. I say privilege because I feel it is a special honor to be face to face with those whom God is transforming. Their servant hearts were displayed through the work they invested in our church as well as in the relationships they established with some of our church family in such a short time.

The seven men joined us for our Thursday night LIFEiLEAD Support Group. That night the Lord worked it out where it was only Angela, myself and the seven men from TLC. It was a time of being open, being vulnerable and a time where we all allowed the Holy Spirit to touch all of our hearts. Our topic for that night was “Choosing Life” and to hear these men pour out their hearts about making right choices in Christ so they can live a godly life brought tears to my eyes. It was as if I was listening to myself fourteen years ago. It was a blessing to spend time with those men and talk real life as we applied the Truth of the words of a real God.

Our prayer is that LIFEiLEAD’s vision of a structured discipleship aftercare for those coming out of rehab or a program becomes a reality and that it will bring hope to many like these men from TLC.

Many thanks to the Executive Director for putting together such a professional group of godly men to come serve our church! On behalf of LIFEiLEAD and Riverside Church we are very grateful for them and the testimony of transformation they each represent.

We want to again than you all for your continued prayers and support. There are still many needs as we move forward with our mission and vision, but as we see things starting to progress and come together God is bringing the right people at the right time. We ask that you please continue to keep us in prayer and support us in any way that you can. May the God of all peace and comfort bless each of you richly and may we in unity live our lives to serve Him and others.

Finally, as most of you know, we have launched our 300 @ 50 Campaign that will be on going through this year to raise funds to fulfill LIFEiLEAD’s mission and vision. Please click this link for a video regarding the campaign

We would like to thank, from the bottom of our hearts, the 114 people who have already given to the campaign. You have helped kick off 2014 with a great and hopeful start. We still need 186 more people to give a one-time donation of $50 (or more) to reach the goal of our ever-growing budget.

Your support through time, energy, prayer, finances and other resources have been greatly appreciated thus far. We look forward to continuing to partner with you in 2014 as we empower leaders of transformed lives and reach those who have been affected by addiction.

Again, thank you all who have supported us this year, we hope that you continue to support us in any way that you can. May you all have an abundantly blessed 2014
